Kelly Laporte O'Brien delivered at least 25 of their backpacks to the pediatric oncology unit, where our social workers give them to children with cancer and their families.

I've had the privilege of donating at least 25 of their backpacks to the pediatric oncology unit, where our social workers give them to children with cancer and their families. Each backpack includes thoughtful items along with a monetary gift to help ease some of the financial burden during an incredibly difficult time. As an oncology nurse, I see firsthand how devastating a cancer diagnosis can be. It's heartbreaking when adults face this disease, but seeing children battle cancer is something no family should ever have to experience. This foundation is truly near and dear to my heart because they bring comfort, hope, and real support when it's needed most. If you're looking for a charity that genuinely makes a difference, I can't recommend this foundation enough. Every donation helps remind these children and their families that they are not alone." Honoring the memory and celebrating the life of Ryan Jude Doyle, the RD26 Foundation is hosting the 7th annual Ryan Doyle Memorial Golf Tournament! Ryan is a courageous young man who was a junior in high school when diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. He bravely battled the disease until June 16, 2019. The RD26 Foundation was established shortly after his passing, with the mission of “Honoring Ryan by Helping Others”. The goals of the foundation include awarding scholarships in Ryanʼs name as well as helping families with children battling cancer.

Ethan Gasteyer, this year’s recipient of The Ryan Jude Doyle Courage Award.

Ethan has been courageously fighting a brain tumor since 2020 when he was a sophomore at the University of Connecticut. During his surgery and treatments, he continued his studies, reached remission, and graduated with a degree in Physiology and Neurobiology and headed off to Medical School.

5th Annual Baseball Fundraiser in Southwick

The RD26 Foundation hosted the 5th Annual Baseball Fundraiser in Southwick May 2nd. The Southwick and Westfield Tech baseball teams competed against each other at Whalley Park. Thank you to those who came out to support the wonderful players and the RD26 Foundation.

RYAN JUDE DOYLE INFUSION SUITE RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY AND GRAND OPENING

The RD26 Foundation is proud and honored to announce the grand opening of the Ryan Jude Doyle Infusion Suite at UMass Memorial Children’sMedical Center in Worcester. The Foundation thoughtfully decided to donate $100,000 to support the renovation and expansion of the infusion room where Ryan once received treatment. The donation was made possible by the continued generosity and support of our community.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place in March to celebrate the completion of the renovated suite, which occurred earlier this year. The transformed space is more modern, brighter and comfortable for children and teens undergoing care. Five new treatment and companion chairs were installed to provide improved comfort, paired with upgraded TVs and Xboxes. The decor was refreshed, offering images for those of any age to play ISpy or enjoy the calming imagery, and the privacy curtains were updated. Due to the expansion of the suite, forty percent more kids and teens can now receive their infusion treatments. “We’re all very excited to have this refreshed and expanded space for our patients and families,” said Liz Parker Gagne, Donor & Community Engagement Officer at UMass Memorial Health. “It offers a better experience for all and makes us all feel good to be able to partner with such caring and generous grateful families like the Doyles and everyone who supports the RD26 Foundation.” Alongside the UMass Memorial staff that completed this transformation, some of Ryan’s old doctors and nurses attended the ceremony in remembrance of his positive spirit.

We are pleased to announce the 5th Annual Run for Ryan 5k & 1 Mile Walk, from which all proceeds will benefit the RD26 Foundation. Ryan was a runner, varsity baseball player, and a varsity football player at Minnechaug Regional High School in Wilbraham, MA. When he was a junior in high school he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. To honor Ryan and the amazing athlete and person he was, the RD26 Foundation was formed.

The RD26 Foundation has been formed to honor the memory of Ryan Doyle by helping others. The goal of the foundation is to assist programs and individuals to improve and positively impact lives in Ryan’s memory. The foundation will focus on helping families with children battling cancer. The foundation will also award annual scholarships to those who demonstrate kindness, strength of character, and concern for others. Ryan lived with a passion for life, family, friends, sports, and fun and the foundation will support programs and people who share these values.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the 4th Annual Run for Ryan at Fountain Park on November 9, 2024! With over 250 runners, plenty of dogs, and beautiful weather, the event was a true success. We are deeply grateful to Jim at Fast Track Timing for ensuring the race went smoothly, to Zach Gosciminski for providing the much-needed snacks, and to Mercedes-Benz of Springfield for keeping everyone hydrated with water throughout the day. Congratulations to Michael Dorunda for taking first place in the men’s division and Christine Dunn for leading the women’s division. Thanks to all who attended, and we look forward to seeing you next year!
